The Projects...

Chembe Village Community Project Centre was established in 2009 in Cape Maclear. The purpose is simple: to raise awareness to the community and those traveling through, of the existing projects in the village and to bring people together to share knowledge, and experiences. Each project that is part of the Centre takes a certain role in Centre assisting tourists and volunteers who are interested in learning more.

More projects are in the process of being created and include: Women's Arts & Crafts, Children's jewelry making and Day Care Center

Chembe Village Community Project Centre was created to raise awareness and assist with fundraising for existing projects in Chembe Village (also known to tourists as Cape Maclear, Malawi). Projects that are involved have proven to be successful and have shown a great deal of committment to their cause.

$5 buys a mosquito net that can protect 2-5 children from malaria

$10 can provide 10 visits to the clinic, including medication

$50 buys:
  50kg bag of fertilizer for a family's maize field which supplies them with their staple food for a year
  Teachers salary for 1 month
  Uniform and shoes for one child
  two goats
  a brood of chickens

$100 can provide:
  basic food for an orphanage for a month
  Medicine for 10 families
  One Cow
  Clean water supplies for 10 families
  gardening supplies to start a small veggie garden for a family

$200 can provide:
  health care for 1 year
  1 community toilet (?)
  small business loan

$500 for a scholarship to support a woman's university schooling for a year

$1000 can send 3 children to secondary school for a year

$15,000 can provide an entire village with safe, clean drinking water
